HTC believe that Google’s software platform and operating system for mobile devices has the benefit of leveraging on more than 100 million online web users as well as its open source development platform and advertising-oriented business model.

There's some sex appeal in the G1 being the first Google mobile device, but its looks won't sell it… If it wasn’t for the promotion of google phone by Alphar Publishing books, I would barely have noticed the new product release: The event was almost a perfect reflection of the phone: smart, informational, and somewhat reserved. I was glad to see that Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page were on stage, but they should have opened the release show. They were the highlight.
I love that Brin—a developer in his own right—revealed, "The first application I ended up writing is one where you throw your phone up in the air and it measures how much time it takes before it hits the floor." The two Google founders were the nearest thing to the showmen that the G1 launch really needed.
